Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Before deciding on trip participation, could my company and I learn what companies we might be matched with? A: In order to better assist you in assessing your China business interests, please complete and submit our Matchmaking Questionnaire. Mission organizers will contact you upon receipt of the Questionnaire and discuss your specific situation. Q: I would like to adjust my itinerary. Which flights am I booked for? Which hotels will I be staying in? Should I contact the airlines and/or hotels directly for reservation changes? A: Mission delegates will be staying at JW Marriotts in Shanghai and Beijing, Lakeside Hotel in Hefei and the Millennium Harbourview in Xiamen. As in-country logistics for the trip will be handled by Maryland Center China (MCC), please contact May Wang of MCC regarding itinerary adjustments including flight changes and hotel stay extensions. Q: What is the time difference between China and the United States? A: The whole of China operates on a single Standard Time (GMT+8). The Baltimore-Washington area lies in the Eastern Time Zone (GMT-5). However, as the trip will be taking place while Daylight Savings Time is in effect in the US and China does not currently have a similar time change, for trip and trip-planning communications, Chinese time will be 12 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time. Q: What is the recommended attire for the trip? A: As domestic flights in China limit total weight for economy class free checked luggage to 20 kg (44 lbs), please pack lightly for the trip. However, as there will be a number of formal receptions and business meetings during your time in China, one or two sets of business formal attire should be included, in addition to light-weight/summer business casual or casual attire. Q: I already have a valid visa for China for the time period covered by the trip. Will you adjust your participation fee accordingly? A: Yes, we will take this under consideration! However, please first confirm your visa situation with mission organizers. Q: What promotional materials (brochures/product literature, etc.) can/should we bring on the trip? A: As part of your Mission package, we will be translating and printing ample numbers of business cards and bilingual Mission books with participant profiles. If there is additional material that you would like to take along or ship to China, feel free to do so, but translation and shipping fees, if applicable, would be at your own cost. Please contact May Wang of Maryland Center China if you need assistance with translation and printing in China.
