The Maryland - Baltimore China Mission 2010 has now come to a successful conclusion. Our correspondent, mission delegate and Washington Laboratories President Mike Violette, provides some background for the Mission in a passage on the U.S.-China business & trade relationship here.

Mission Overview

The Maryland-China Business Council , Baltimore-Xiamen Sister City Committee,  and Maryland-Anhui Province Sister State Committee are organizing this cross-sector business development mission to assist Mid-Atlantic area companies explore business opportunities in one of the world’s most dynamic markets – China.  The mission will also celebrate the 15th, 25th and 30th anniversaries respectively of these three organizations. It will be led by Maryland’s Secretary of State, John P. McDonough, with support from federal and state-level trade agencies.  Mission participants will receive:

  • Pre-departure briefings
  • One-on-one matchmaking meetings with potential business partners arranged by the Maryland  Center China and other in-country organizations
  • Special interest meetings on opportunities in environmental and clean energy technologies
  • Networking opportunities with Chinese government officials, industry, and academic groups
  • In-country commercial briefings by Maryland Center China & U.S. Government officials
  • Visit to World Expo 2010 Shanghai
  • Participate in the China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen
  • Site visits, business receptions, and more!

Participants

Mid-Atlantic organizations and companies (i.e. manufacturers, exporters, importers and companies with an interest in attracting Chinese investment capital) should consider this unique opportunity. The mission is designed for companies with an interest in China across industry sectors, including environmental and clean energy technologies, machinery and industrial equipment, medical equipment and services, marine technologies/marina and boating, scrap materials, education and training, safety and security, consumer goods, franchising, and travel & tourism.
